all of life, it comes down to just one thing
and that's to know You, oh Jesus
and make You known

  • my parents returned home from their month-long trip.  for my birthday, they bought me earrings - 2 pairs!  i was happy they thought of my pierced lobes, long forgotten by me.  it has been just about a year since i went to the tattoo parlor with gabriel in boston.

    it was my first time removing the captive bead rings i had thought were so cool and professional.  surgical grade steel, you know.  that's what real piercers use.  goodbye hoops..

    I am finding more and more how much of my personality make up has come from my parents.  During dinner tonight, my dad lamented to me how he has been discovering that all of his peers, all those his age, have absolutely no idea of current technology whatsoever.  More than distress, he said it makes him feel lonely- sending emails to friends who never use email, signing up for Facebook with no one to talk to.  He tries to teach and admonish them but they have no care for learning anything new that they do not need.  I told him most of the world is like that.

    My mother is the same as the world in that aspect.  She has no interest in the internet and my dad's obsession.  She told me her own story: While running errands one day, my mom passed by one of the libraries they used to take me and my sister to when we were young.  Curious, she ventured in and was impressed with how the institution had upgraded everything electronically.  She proceeded to apply for a library card and noticed they now were embellished with a fancy new design.  The librarian picked out the standard card for her for adult patrons.  However, my mom saw that they had an Elmo design and asked if she may have one of those.  He told her that they are for children but because she was so persistent, spoke with his manager who gave permission.

    My mother is a grown woman who works in corporate America.  She has a Sesame Street library card and fought to get it.

    they are part of my .  i pray my God will redeem them soon.

  • tiff

    is self-destructive
    is restless
    is discontent
    inflicts pain
    causes damage
    acts out
    talks back
    is defensive
    is prideful
    is hurtful
    has no patience

    probably is
    emotionally abusive.  and no one understands why i would hurt them, not even i.  sucks for you if you are my good friend.  you must have issues.  the longer you have stayed my friend the more issues you more than likely have.

    sorry to everyone i have hurt.

    i think when i speak of freedom it possibly mostly means freedom from my own self.  buddhists try hard to achieve this on their own.  for me, i will just have to wait.  pastor preached about heaven on sunday.  shutupemotiffnoonelikesyou

  • In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

  • Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.

    Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

    Do not put out the Spirit's fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.

  • Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.

    1 Tim 1:15

    my God, my God, i am so thankful for You.
    and i pray Lord, that you continue to develop this heart more.
    increase my faith my Father
    so i may serve You until the day that i see You.

    one day i will have rest and all i have been called to do will have been finished.

    i finished 1 Timothy this morning.  it is a letter with so many instructions from Paul to Timothy.

    "Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth."

    i have been feeling such conviction to push people to God.

    "If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly."

    "Command and teach these things. Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you."

    "Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers."

    "But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith."

    "Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith."

    Paul writes with such great love and encouragement to his brothers.  TID - which is zhi's coined phrase "Tiff's Idea of the Day": why do we not encourage each other this way?  are we too embarrassed to say such things or do we really just not see it?  i feel like i have a LOT to say to many of my brothers and sisters; i just have no opportunity to do so.  i guess.  perhaps i should start writing letters, like what was suggested in small group several times.  i see so much value and growth in so many people that i am so thankful for.  this body would not exist without all the different personalities that come - all so valuable to God.  part of me wants to make an encouraging speech to agape at the end of my staff service term.  but that might be too ridiculous.  we will see.  i have been cleaning up my apartment (yay!) and found not only my nice bible (with my name embossed on it) but also a fancy pen that my former boss bought me a long while ago.  some stationary and a clutter-free desk and i might be inspired.

Psalm 27

The LORD is my light and my salvation—
  whom shall I fear?
  The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
  of whom shall I be afraid?

When evil men advance against me
  to devour my flesh,
  when my enemies and my foes attack me,
  they will stumble and fall.

Though an army besiege me,
  my heart will not fear;
  though war break out against me,
  even then will I be confident.

One thing I ask of the LORD,
  this is what I seek:
  that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
  all the days of my life,
  to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
  and to seek him in his temple.

For in the day of trouble
  he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
  he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
  and set me high upon a rock.

Then my head will be exalted
  above the enemies who surround me;
  at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy;
  I will sing and make music to the LORD.

Hear my voice when I call, O LORD;
  be merciful to me and answer me.

My heart says of you, "Seek his face!"
  Your face, LORD, I will seek.

Do not hide your face from me,
  do not turn your servant away in anger;
  you have been my helper.
  Do not reject me or forsake me,
  O God my Savior.

Though my father and mother forsake me,
  the LORD will receive me.

Teach me your way, O LORD;
  lead me in a straight path
  because of my oppressors.

Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
  for false witnesses rise up against me,
  breathing out violence.

I am still confident of this:
  I will see the goodness of the LORD
  in the land of the living.

Wait for the LORD;
  be strong and take heart
  and wait for the LORD.
