there is a major difference between real Christianity

    and Christianity on people's terms.

those who are saved not only accept but (are given a great) desire to meet the standards set by God, not for salvation, but for love

those who have not yet been regenerated (but call themselves Christian) accept the same standards but have little desire to meet them.

i am a Christian, legit. call me out if i do not love. please do. call me out if God says something and i am not doing it. i desire to do it. i desire to know my sin, to repent, to be transformed. i desire to look like my Lord, even if i fail in doing so so many times.

those who are not His are not only sinful, they.just.don't.care. the dismissiveness, indifference calls them out. they do not read the Bible as the Word of God; they read it as guidelines. things that remind them of their sinful nature but otherwise demand no action. Permissive, forgiving, grace given as though it is they who are the center.

i think it is an error of the Church to continue preaching sanctification when what is needed is regeneration. if one has been walking with Christ for many years and there is little to no marked change, we must determine if all the years of work were attempted without the Spirit. in my deepest times steeped in sin, i knew i was dead to God (and thus to myself), in rebellion, in darkness. there is no consciousness of this without the Holy Spirit.

when God enters a person, they are given a new heart and new eyes and new ears. the measure of a Christian is not by the amount of sin (though it is a limited indicator) but by the manner in which they feel and see and hear. the kingdom of Heaven is hidden to them.

    in theological terms: total depravity.
